90th birthday that was held in
Hartville, Missouri during April of 1993.
Gene Marah observed that his grandfather, George Washington Todd, needed a housekeeper and found himself one down at the "Poor Farm". Florence Dodson Waymire Stout (also known as "The Old Lady"), was the mother of four children, and ended up as George's fifth wife when he was in his 90s. Ethyle Todd remembered the story about the time that George and The Old Lady got in a "spat" that resulted in them placing a long board down the middle of their bed. Their fight went on for days. But, one night George found himself "peeking" over the edge of board only to find The Old Lady also "peeking" over her side of the board! And that was the end of the board!
Note: Gene Marah says "You'd do almost anything for a good housekeeper!"

Freddy W. Briggs Freddy W. Briggs, 58, of Woodburn, died May 4, 2002. He was born June 1, 1943 in Pendleton, Ore. and spent his early years there. Mr. Briggs lived in Salem, Aumsville and Silverton before moving to Woodburn in 1975. He served in the US Marine Corps and the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and working on cars. He worked for Erickson Tire Factory in Molalla as shop supervisor. He married Patricia Gustin on July 26, 1971 in Vancouver, Wash. Survivors include his wife Patricia of Woodburn, daughters Dorothy Wills of McMinnville, Penny Zeigler of Woodburn, sons Charles Briggs of Colorado and Raymond Briggs of Woodburn, brothers Donald, Calvin and Paul Briggs, all of Pendleton, sisters Hazel Russell of LaGrande and Carol Baldwin of Hermiston, and 10 grandchildren. Funeral service will be May 9 at 10:30 a.m. at Cornwell Colonial Chapel of Woodburn. Public visitation will be May 8 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Graveside with military honors will be May 9 at 2:30 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Vancouver, Wash.
